The Emerald Tablet, regardless of which translation you look at, always begins with the confirmation that what is written within is nothing but the truth. For example in Fulcanelli's version it states:
This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...
Reminds me a lot of the oath that is used in the courtrooms of the USA. There is already pleny of material on the occult inspired elite that formed the US constitution and government... perhaps this is yet another point that can be raised.

The actual tradition of having a witness swear an oath of honesty dates back to Roman times. The word oath doesn't come from Latin but Anglo-Saxon. When King Athelstan codified Britain's laws around 930 C.E. he included a section that required a neutral third party to witness the sale of chattel. This third party would take an oath and the phrase "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" is believed to have been coined in Old English, and subsequently become a staple of English trials by approximately the 13th century.

This kind of pops a whole in any theory that the phrase was an inspiration from the Emerald Tablet... but then again the Anglo-Saxons could easily have been influenced by more ancient oaths such as The Hippocratic Oath!

Regardless, I just thought I'd point these things out for those students of the Emerald Tablet!

Nationality and Age doesn't matter much to me... we can all learn something from each other.

I suggest you create a topic in Introductions and introduce yourself to everyone!

I had recently read Manly P. Hall's The Secret Destiny of America, and he claims throughout the book, that the ancient Greeks had visited North America and had even gone as far as the great lakes region.

For several thousand years, secret societies and unknown philosophers had been working on creating the background necessary for framing an enlightened democracy. That idea was to have been realized in America, the Land Which Keeps the Thursday. That title meaning the holiday celebrations of Thanksgiving. Which is not a celebration of gluttony, but one of freedom from oppression and freedom of life and opportunity.

An interesting video covering some of this information is Riddles In Stone: Secret History of America, however is has a rather negative bias towards masonry and similar subjects.

In regards to the truth oath, this might be difficult to trace considering England's influence on the creation of the united States and also its existence since. However I would think that if this was in practice in England already, then it would be a small step to mirror the practice in he state courts in America.

Sure is...

M.P. Hall is always an inspiration, even if he somtimes is almost falling over the edge. No one can deny his commitment to gnosis though!
