Diversity = Harmony Empty Diversity = Harmony

Nature works because of diversity (or biodiversity)... and what I mean is that if we take away one species many will suffer. The strength and harmony of nature relies on its diversity. Thus diversity is a good thing.

In society we always seem to strive towards conformity... we (the machine) shun the individual, the minority. Hell, democracy is built on majorities!!!

Is it so strange then that human history is filled with disharmony rather than harmony?

We should strive towards diversity!

In alchemy there is a lot of talk about unity (3 = 1 etc)... but unity doesn't have to imply ONE... only ONE HARMONY, not ONE kind/person/thing/state... diversity can be ONE!

Faggots, whores, niggers, rednecks, punks, yuppies, white trash, snobs, swots, nerds, jocks etc are all large groups and not a diversity. 6 billion people that act and ARE individual... well that is diversity. And that is what we should strive towards (and hopefully end racism and other phobic behaviour along the way)!

Diversity = Harmony Empty Re: Diversity = Harmony

I think it was Liz Greene who spent a lot of time discussing this in her book on astrological Neptune who discussed two ways of thought involving human structures of more than one or two individuals: The mass mind, which has actions not unlike an individuality-destroying cult or a riot, or the group mind, in which all members are individuals who add their experience together to aid the whole, while still retaining their identity.

Either way, I wish that a greater range of education were allowed to the people of the world, specifically multi-dimensional physics and geometry, in order to explain that how we experience the divine in our planar space has as many forms as we have angles on our infinitely rounded bodies. Thus, the divine can be present in our universe in different places simultaneously, and sometimes of a drastically different form. Knowledge doesn't always lead to understanding, but I feel like that understanding would hit a little closer with those inclined to such. I think like a thinker, so it's not like I can come up with an easy answer for any of it, but part and parcel to the whole sense of unity is seeing how science can affect philosophy once again. Sometimes I realize how hard it is to be us, not saying we're greater or lesser than anyone else, but that this whole alchemist thing can really drag a person down with the weight and scope of what we're trying to do, as much as I sometimes erroneously stick the notion in the back of my head as a flight of fancy rather than a very serious matter to me. I apologize for ending this on a saturnine note. It's been an interesting time for ol' Gundy.

This is interesting and I believe you are absolutely correct.

I think Crowley stated that if everybody done their will, then there would be no conflict. Since we go against our will and disregard it, the world is full of conflict. This conflict is caused by humans, and nothing else.

Diversity = Harmony Empty Anarchy & the Natural Law

Agreed!

This is also what anarchists say (real ones, not those fake stone throwers and fashion-punks).
A natural law is that factor in man which asserts itself freely and spontaneously without any external force, in harmony with the requirements of nature. For instance, the demand for nutrition, for sex gratification, for light, air, and exercise, is a natural law. But its expression needs not the machinery of government, needs not the club, the gun, the handcuff, or the prison. To obey such laws, if we may call it obedience, requires only spontaneity and free opportunity. That governments do not maintain themselves through such harmonious factors is proven by the terrible array of violence, force, and coercion all governments use in order to live. Thus Blackstone is right when he says, "Human laws are invalid, because they are contrary to the laws of nature." - Anarchism - What it really stands for by Emma Goldman
In other words Free Will will not lead to chaos... diversity = harmony!
