Ayahuasca Trip

Post  deviadah on Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:06 pm

I propose that a group of people go to Brazil with the purpose of partaking in some ayahuasca deep in the Amazon jungle. It should be a very magical experience indeed. And remember even if you go it doesn't mean that you will have to take ayahuasca, the jungle itself is, I am sure, quite magical on its own.

If there is a genuine interest in this then this thread can be used to discuss, prepare and organize this trip.

There are several Q that needs answers: When? Where? Who? (for instance)

The link below seems a bit too tourist for my liking:
Ayahuasca Retreat

Note: I have re-posted this from here

A friend of a friend did it in Peru. She totally rated her experience when I met her. I could try getting in contact with her and finding out the details.

Its the only drug I would be interested in taking these days. To take it in the company of fellow esoterics from all corners of the earth would be something to experience indeed.

Yes, it would be quite an experience, but to value being with 'fellow esoterics from all corners of the earth' above being with the indigenous peoples that have a real tradition and experience with it may be somewhat a mistake. I am all for meeting up and going as a group, but only if it doesn't detract from experiencing and learning about it in its traditional context, even if that context has been polluted with Catholic ideas in some ways. Reason being, is set, setting and dose. Not only will they be more clued up on the correct dose, they will also have more experience in creating the right set (mind state) and setting to give the trip its best effect.

Forgive me,Anton, but I simply assumed that taking it in the traditional way with indigenous people was implicit in Deviadah's suggestion.
And being a child of Mercury one of the greatest pleasures for me is in communicating and experiencing life with people of similar interests.
My interests,like yours,being quite particular.

Sorry, of course. Forgive me for being over zealous. I've just seen it too many times where those in western occult traditions are so busy imposing their own tradition on all they experience that they fail to fully open up and connect with something very real under their nose. I wasn't attacking you, or didn't mean to be at any rate, just trying to voice a very real concern. Smile

Of course it will be nice to do it with others of like mind.

Yes, I think you both misunderstood each other. I am of the same faith. Meet up together as a western group but do the TRIP in the original native way... I am not going down there to party... but to be a part of a sacred experience!

Anything else would be murder on my personal moral!

I would expect nothing less from you,Deviadah.

My interest in ayahuasca was first piqued by David Icke,of all people, when he described his ayahuasca experience in his book,'Infinite love is the only truth, everything else is illusion'.
The experience had a profound effect on him and has taken him to a new and greater understanding.I was very impressed with what he wrote about the experience and also the direction it is now taking him in.

I dont know if there are travel groups that organise this sort of thing, there must be I guess.

And yes,Anton, that concern of yours is a very real one.

I think respect for the indigenous culture is an important aspect of the experience.
As are the people you have with you.

I think partytime should be saved for Burning Man.Or Mardi Gras.

It is most do-able. I know of people, too, but am not in a position to arrange anything... I plan on going sometime in the next few years if I can afford the time off of work...

Q

monkeyblood wrote:So shall we do this thing, then?
Naturally, but it requires planning.

1. Where to go?
2. What tribe?
3. When?

And those are just the first threshold to get over...

Yes,its all the detail and research in the planning that seems a little overwhelming but I like putting things like this into existence.Putting the ability to manifest into action.

Well you can't blame me for trying!

LOL

I guess we'll do it together - all of us - step by step!

First thing to sort out, though, is where should we go?

The jungles of the Amazon are vast!

All in

Post  monkeyblood on Sun Feb 03, 2008 8:03 pm

I think it will work better with everyone who wants to go contributing to the organisation

I spoke to my brother...he goes to south america for 6 weeks every year.....loves it....well,its going to cost me $2,500 to get there and 16 hours of travel.

I agree with you about the ayahuasca group in Brazil...too touristy for my tastes...will check out others.

Didnt Anton have a friend who went?

Everywhere! We shall make a voyage around the earth. All climates and atmospheres, all cultures and races, all continents, and even more!

We shall go to the moon, to mars, and to that which is beyond!

----

Sorry, LOL.

Just thought I'd add a little creativity to the thread. I can already feel the future alteredness affecting my brain!

No but really, one day I will try it, multiple times perhaps, and I think I would like to try it in the desert for my first time. Then maybe the rainforest, and finally the peaks of a snow covered mountain. Space would be another choice, maybe the moon or something. Getting there will be another issue, all on its own... What the hell!

I also know of people who've brewed their own using plants ordered from the internet. Cheaper than flying to Brazil, but has some legal concerns depending on the plants you use.

While this is true the main reason for going there is to have the atmos of the jungle and real shamans contribute to the experience!

An important aspect I think...

Oh, absolutely. At least, if you can find a real shaman and convince him or her to guide your experience. Chances are, if they're doing it for money, they aren't a real shaman, and, if they aren't, you're going to have some serious difficulties making this happen.

I totally agree that it'd be an amazing experience, just not totally practical. Brewing your own, while not quite as overwhelmingly cool, is still fairly cool, and a whole lot easier to do -- especially for anyone into Spagyric alchemy.

Yes, you are probably right.

Perhaps the best thing to do is just to wing it... go down there... get lost in the jungle and hope for the best.

Are there still cannibals down there or is that just a Western myth?
