Here's a few you might find intreasting by an author called Carlos Castenada unless you've seen them already;

The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge (1968) ISBN 0-520-21757-8
A Separate Reality: Further Conversations with Don Juan (1971) ISBN 0-671-73249-8
Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan (1972) ISBN 0-671-73246-3
Tales of Power (1974) ISBN 0-671-73252-8
The Second Ring of Power (1977) ISBN 0-671-73247-1
The Eagle's Gift (1981) ISBN 0-671-73251-X
The Fire from Within (1984) ISBN 0-671-73250-1
The Power of Silence: Further Lessons of Don Juan (1987) ISBN 0-671-73248-X
The Art of Dreaming (1993) ISBN 0-06-092554-X
The Active side of Infinity
The Wheel of Time

The one at the top of the list is well worth reading, after that they become pretty long winded, the first one is a must, it'll make you laugh, he gets out of his skull and freaks out!

Most people would (or wouldnt) chew one peyote button, let alone keep getting them out of a jar and keep chewing!
LOL

The Wheel of Time
is probably the one to read if you want to get a good jist!

Y'know, this is becoming an increasingly common problem.....have a university degree, write a book, get it published...and hey presto....suddenly we're getting taken too seriously by people whose need for a magical life will make them lose any critical faculties they once had.....it seems to be a fine line...mysticism,magic and common sense.
Well worth reading is this article on Casteneda at Salon....Its called 'The Dark Legacy of Carlos Casteneda'...you can read it here....http://www.salon.com/books/feature/2007/04/12/casteneda/.......
What the seekers of occult knowledge really need is a course or book called "How to spot a magical wannabee at fifty paces' when they start on the path.
I just read Casteneda's last book " the active side of infinity'....luckily I borrowed it from the library and didnt shell out any money for it.... parts of it was like being held hostage by an elderly pervert and having to listen to his favourite dirty sex stories......errrkk!.....I mean sex stories have their place but if there was ever book filler stories...these were it....I find for a lot of these 'gurus'....its a case of too many books....increasingly with nothing to say.
Not to say Casteneda didnt have worthwhile things to expound...I have always found the concepts of the assemblage point, impeccability and self importance extremely worthwhile as well as the concept of teacher plants.I have also always liked his pragmatic approach to the use of psychedelics in moving the assemblage point or piercing the veil....whichever metaphor works for you....
I guess my final point is......read and think critically....question everything....
My personal faves are The eagle's gift and the fire from within....he'd finally learnt to write by then...or he'd got a new editor......

Bravo...my sentiments exactly. I've grown weary of experts, nitpicking scholars, and gurus expounding their universal theory. They're all wolves in sheep's clothing to me. It's a rather thin line on whom to trust or mistrust, though I found it helped when I stopped trying to buy my salvation and instead discover what came naturally.

I think McKenna is far more important than Castenada!

But a Guru with a pricetag is indeed no Guru - in my book!
