This is something I ran across.
I don't know quite how to describe it but if you get it, you get it.

Here's an additional item that you may find useful:
Aqueous solutions of AuCl3 react with aqueous basic solutions of NaOH
to form a precipitate Au(OH)3 which will dissolve in excess NaOH to form
sodium aurate NaAuO2

here's a purplish nanogold description:

here's a similar experiment: go down to part C

http://www.oakton.edu/user/cp-stem/Pilot/SIT_SIMS2005/NANOSCIENCE-Activities-Instructor-Notes.pdf

it says the formation of the burgandy red color indicates the production of gold nanoparticles.

Yes, I came across that article a month or two ago. Gold is very interesting to say the least.

Do you think we can take the NaAuO2 to m-state by knocking off the O2? Maybe calcination under an inert atmosphere (as in annealing) would be enough to remove the O2 and leave NaAu. I don't know, but it would be interesting to look into I think.

Yes, I think so.
I have some recipes I've found on the net where people make a purple precipitate.
They first dissolve gold in HCl and H2O2 with some added NaCl to get a greenish-yellow solution
of gold chloride. This solution is heated to 70-80C and a lye solution is slowly added, making sure
not to exceed 80C. (If you don't add the extra NaCl a lot of your m-state will evaporate during this part.
People reported getting high from breathing the evaporated m-state and having slippery lips.)
As pH nears neutral the yellowish tint disappears and the solution is clear.
As pH nears 8.5 the solutions becomes pink deepening to purple. Apparently the goal is a purple-red color
which I think is supposed to appear around 10.5 pH ( probably 10.78 ). It is usually missed (the pH shoots up to 12 real suddenly)
and must be brought back down with HCl. This purple precipitate is allowed to settle and is washed in the
usual way, only the wash water is brought to neutral and ingested too.
This is supposed to be powerful precipitate. One author says he just drinks the water that is poured upon
the purple precipitate - 2 eyedropper squirts morning and evening. The precipitate keeps charging
additional water as it is poured upon.

None of them anneal that I've read.
I was trying to figure out what they're ingesting - gold hydroxide? sodium aurate? gold oxide?
From what I've read, the hydroxide has the purple property. But hydroxide is supposed to turn into
chloride in stomach acid. So why do these people rave about the power of this precipitate?
Are they dying or being enlightened?
I recall one of these people saying they hear the auric humming after a few ingestions.
???

Some also do this process with silver chloride and digest the silver and gold together @ 40C for 5 days.
One reported that 5 mgs of this sends him flying.

If you want exact details let me know.
