Metallic Magister of acetates Path

There is an extract about acetates Path in the book named « Traité de Chymie philosophique et Hermétique enrichi des opérations les plus curieuses de l'art » that I had tried to translate.
The firsts steps, that I have translated, are preparations of Venus vitriol, Venus and Mars Vitriol, and incombustible oil with the vinegar.
The next steps are focused on preparations of gold calx, gold vitriol, gold salt, attractive mercurial water, potable gold and finally the conjunction between incombustible Mars and Venus oil and incombustible gold oil.
If you want to do this path, you should to be very, very cautious !
In all the steps in witch we have to distil a form of vitriol, there are risks to obtain an explosion.
So be careful.

Extraction of Emerald Vitriol from the verdigris and its distillation

n° 1 - Take 12 pounds of verdigris and reduce it in powder. Mix it with distilled vinegar. For 1.5 pounds of verdigris, use enough distilled vinegar to surnage it with 10 cm.
Heat this melange at 50°C in a closed vessel during 48h. Don’t forget to mix often the melange.
After that, filter the melange and replace the green tinged vinegar by another distilled vinegar.
Do it again until the added vinegar were not tinged and the feces were brown.
Put all the green tinged vinegar to evaporate and to crystallize.
Then dissolve this crystals in boiling water, filter and evaporate it.
You will have the true Venus green vitriol.
Take this true Venus green vitriol and heat it very slowly until it was dry and red. Put it in a retort with a big reception vessel and heat. Begin with slow fire and increase slowly the temperature.
The water element will passed in first at poor temperature. With increasing temperature, air element will passed in a form of white smoke. When it becomes liquid, it is light green. After the air element, increase a lot the temperature. Then the fire element will passed, like a red oil. Be careful with the temperature of the reception vessel. You could use humid linen to refresh the reception vessel. The all fire element will passed in 8 hours.
Let the retort to cool (it takes 12 hours). Get the distilled liquid witch contents water, air and fire and put it in a very closed vessel to keep it correctly.
To get out the phlegm of this liquor, you should to distil it another time in a retort. You should stop the distillation when the distilled water extract from the liquor will began to be acid.
Then get the red liquor witch was not passed in the reception vessel. It is Venus Vitriol oil.

Extraction of Mars Vitriol

N° 3 - Take a pound of iron filings, put it in a closed vessel. Add a pound of the red liquor obtained from the verdigris and two pounds of distilled water on. Heat to see the iron filings being dissolved. Filter the melange and let evaporate the filtered liquor to have a perfect Mars and Venus vitriol.

Calcination & distillation of Mars Vitriol

N° 4 - Take this Mars and Venus vitriol and calcine it very slowly, without forget to mix often.
You will have a red/brown fine powder. Put this powder in a retort and distil it. It’s just like the Venus vitriol distillation.
So, you should get a red liquor and a caput mortuum.

Extraction of the Venus and Mars Salt

N° 5 - Take the caput mortuum obtained before. It was deep red.
Grind this powder and put it in a good vessel. Add distilled vinegar on. Heat slowly during three days and three nights. The distilled vinegar would attract the salt from this caput mortuum. Then filter the liquor. This filtered liquor should be distilled and the salt would not passed. Dissolve this salt in distilled rain water, filter it and crystallize it, three times.
So you have the pure salt.

Volatilisation of the Venus and Mars Salt

N° 6 - Put the pure salt in a retort and add the red liquor of Mars and Venus vitriol on. When the salt was wholly dissolved, heat the mix with very hot temperature. All would passed. The salt and the red liquor would be closely.

Dulcification of incombustible Mars and Venus oil

N° 7 - Take this red liquor intimately linked with its salt and put it in a retort. Add wine spirit on with the ratio : 7 for red liquor, 5 for wine spirit.
Distil all with medium temperature. Add new wine spirit on the distillation rest. Do that three times. Finally, for 7 parts of red liquor, you should use 15 parts of wine spirit at all.
You will have the perfect incombustible Mars and Venus oil. But there will be also a rest of wine spirit.
So heat this oil at medium temperature to extract all the wine spirit.
Conserve the perfect incombustible Mars and Venus oil without wine spirit in a closed vessel.

Can't wait until you post the rest of the steps. After I finish my preliminary investigation of the vegetable kingdom I will start on the mineral kingdom. The mineral kingdom is just too dangerous to begin with, especially if it's your first real experience with laboratory alchemy.

I can't wait to try my hand at the acetate path though. I believe most people get stuck on the Philosophical Mercury that's said to dissolve gold. This seems to be the real sticking point for most alchemists.

It is necessary to have gold to make other steps.
I posted the beginning process for Ryanl so he sees the difficulty in this path.
This is not the easiest and least expensive equipment path ...

I can't wait to try my hand at the acetate path though. I believe most people get stuck on the Philosophical Mercury that's said to dissolve gold. This seems to be the real sticking point for most alchemists.

In the end, we realize that the acetates path does not have the real philosophal mercury.
It is based on a palliative alkaest to dissolve gold without needing philosophal mercury.
The acetates path is actually a more complex version of the vitriols path.
But it remains on complex paths and with many dangers with the vessels and its risk of explosion.

I don't think the path I'm taking is quite so complicated, but I see some of the same steps in the ones you've shown us, Green Lion. Please tell me - have you performed any of these procedures and if so, what success have you had? Some of processes you list take tangents which I find interesting, but I may or may not persue (i'm also talking about the ones below this post.) My goal is illumination and good health, so I'm shooting for the aurum potabile. The path can best be described by NDC on his page on the Aurum Potabile.

Gold Purification

N° 8 - Take a part of gold with three parts of antimony.
Mix them together in powder in a crucible. Heat this mix with a very high fire. When it is very watery, put it in a pyramidal or conic flow mould.
Heat the mould before putting the flowing metals and put bee wax on the inside surface or the mould.
Let the metals cooling and make it in powder.
There will be resting antimony above the gold and antimony regulus. To extract gold from this antimony, make idem that previously three times.
Take all your gold and antimony amalgam regulus and put it in a large cupel with a “moufle” of earth above it. Put it in ardent coals. Heat with a very high temperature to sublimate antimony and then just gold is resting in the cupel.
To have a very pure gold, do this process three times.

Gold calx preparation

N° 9 - Take a part of the pure gold previously obtained and six parts of pure mercury (Hg) or mercury sublimate.
Cut the gold in small pieces then heat it until it was red in a new crucible. Heat also the mercury in another crucible. Take the two crucibles out of the fire then pour out the hot mercury on the gold. Mix it until the mercury will absorb all the gold. Let it cooling.
Take twice more weight of sulphur flowers than your mercury and gold amalgam. Heat this sulphur flowers in a crucible with medium temperature, the put in the amalgam. Mix it until it was changed in a dark powder.
Take this cooled powder and grind it. Then heat this powder. You have a gold calx.

Royal aqua fortis

N° 10 - Take purified niter, salt harmoniac also purified, each two shares, stones looted one hand, grind and mix everything together. After you take a retort, and ask the lamppost, and join its container in which you put a little water to attract the common spirit, are fighting the joints. Heat gradually retort until it starts to blush, then you will add four ounces of subject by the pipe that closed promptly. Suddenly you will see the materials passing cloud in the container, and fulfils it. That is why it must be large as those in which we make etchings, above vapours from being resolved gradually, which then become clearer. Seeing what you add four ounces of new material, which as above, as well as continuing all the matter is distilled. After that you evaporate liquor by the maria balneum, then with bigger temperature. Water will be made is known as water of the two champions. But as it is quite difficult and risky to do, I give here a method for making it more easily with less risk.

Take a pound of niter, three pounds of clay or rocks. Grind, mix, and distil the lamppost, according to art adapting the beak of the glass retort well sealed a larger container. Spirits red as fire will pass in this container. Evaporate this niter spirit and correct it. Take after a pound of armoniac salt and four pounds of ashes, which you have removed the salt, through the common hot water. Mix and then distil with good fire. The spirit of armoniac happen in the container, which you will evaporate and correct. This fact, take equal parts of niter and armoniac, mix them, and distil with great temperature. You will have solvent solar.

Aqua fortis of sea salt

N° 11 - But I warn you that the spirit of sea salt, distilled as one makes the niter, is the same operation that the water of the two champions. And if it is not so corrosive. Take three shares this spirit of sea salt, and a niter spirit, by this means you will have a royal water, which dissolve gold more quickly than the spirit of salt armoniac. And it will go up by the still and then falling into the container.

Gold calx Dissolution and its conversion into Vitriol

N° 12 - Put in a sloy vase one part of gold calx, three parts of regale aqua. Let the calx dissolve in with sweet heating. Filter the solution when it is cool. Add three new parts of regale aqua on the faeces until all the calx was dissolved. There will rest very little faeces at the end.
Take the solution of dissolved gold calx and heat it during 24h at 100°C. Filter it again.
Take the filtered solution and heat it during 9 days and 9 nights at 100°C. Then distil it and put back the distillate on the faeces. Distil it again until all had the appearance of a red oil.
Then add new regala aqua and do the same process. Finally, increase the heating at the last distillation to distil all the matter. The goal is to refine all the gold.
Take the result liquor and heat it until it becomes like a red oil.
Put this oil in a vessel, in a dark and humid place. Gold vitriol would appear like diaphanous crystals.

Gold vitriol Conversion into purple Crocus

N° l 3 - Take all the diaphanous crystals and dissolve it in distilled water. Add pure mercury (Hg) and mix. You should use three parts of mercury for one part of gold vitriol.
At first, the water will be yellow then clear and an gold vitriol and mercury amalgam will appear in the bottom.
Get this amalgam, put it in a covered crucible and heat sweet to evaporate all the mercury.
Gold vitriol would became a crocus. Its color will be scarlet or purple.
Do three parts with this purple crocus.

Preparation and distillation of the attractive mercurial water

N° 14 - Take sublimate mercury.
Grind the sublimate mercury and put it in a fine layer on a iron sheet. Put it in a cave. A water will appears. Take it and put it in a vessel after filtering.
This is the mercurial liquor. Take one pound of this mercurial liquor with 4 pounds of aqua fortis. Put all in a retort and distil. The faeces are not good but the liquor will be very pure.
This is the attractive mercurial water.

Extraction of Gold sulphur from purple gold calx

N° 15 - Take six shares of attractive mercurial water. Pour it in a glass vase, in which you put a share of purple calx of gold prepared as it is said. Well close the vase and hold the slow heat until the water has drawn the soul or sulfur of gold. And hue is very red in color. Pull this liqueur hue by inclination. If the powder that remains to mow the vase is still yellowish, throw over new attractive mercurial water and pull back until it is a body as white as snow, which solar body remains at the bottom of the vase without being dissolved, and will be retained to remove salt, as it will be said in the No. 18. The attraction of gold sulphur is completed, you withdraw by distillation with the still all the water to dryness mercury, sulphur and Gold will remain in the bottom. Put distilled vinegar 5 cm above. Do the digest until the vinegar is coloured red. Pour this menstrum by inclination. Put a new distilled vinegar. Do another digest and continue so long as vinegar draws nothing, so you have true separation.
From solar sulphur extracted from his body put faeces apart, then remove distilled vinegar to dryness. Sulphur remain at the bottom of the vase, which sweet several times with distilled rainwater, and by withdrawing from above by distillation.

Drinkable Gold extract from gold sulphur

N° 16 - Take six shares of incombustible oil incombustible of Mars and Venus, sweetened with the wine spirit, as it is taught here in front of No. 7. Pay them on one hand gold sulphur aforesaid to No. 15 in a distillation vase then distil and put distilled result back so many times that the soul of gold climbs and pass with that incombustible oil in the container. Then put the liquor to move in a pelican or other distillation vase for a month. So you will have Drinking Gold witch returns no more into the body, and is a great secret to health.

Gold crocus distillation and its conversion in spiritual water

N° 17 - Take six ounces of prepared and sweet incombustible oil (N ° 17) and two ounces of prepared gold crocus or purple gold of No. 13. Put them together, and make them digest in a vacuum. As the crocus is dissolved, if there are faeces, separate them because they do nothing for your work. Put the dissolution of gold in a low cucurbite, adapt its cover and its container. Close the joints, then distil and warmly making distilled on what will go down in the vase. Continue distillation and put distilled result back so many times that the dissolution happening in the container in liquor. If it remains some white faeces, separate them. Keep this golden liqueur, because gold is inside with the form of spiritual, mercurial and sulphury essence.

Gold Salt Extraction

N° 18 - Take all the white body, which remained at the bottom of the vase after the removal of gold sulphur, as stated above, in the No. 15. Made it reverberate through three days and three nights. Then made it sublimate with equal part of purified salt armoniac. Replace what is sublimated with what will remained at the bottom of sublimatory vessel. And made sublime, as before, sublimation repeat this so many times that anything white body mounted solar and become volatile. Then pour onto this sublimated a common lukewarm water. Salt armoniac will be dissolved, and the body rush in a solar powder, which you sweet entirely with filtered rainwater. And then it will slow a dry heat, and this fact , you will extract salt with distilled vinegar, which will take place in three days with fresh digestion. After you remove the vinegar, distil by the ash to dryness, and solar salt remain at the bottom of the vase. You will have to clarify it like I will indicate.

Make dissolve this salt in two parts of spirit of wine, and remove a distillation three quarters of this spirit. Put the rest in the cellar or other cold place, and it will form crystals that you keep. After having emptied by inclination the spirit of wine left, you will distil more and submit to crystallization cold, hard repeat this until they take place over crystals, which will slowly dry. And so you will have the true salt of gold well clarified.

All transactions above being finalised, as I have clearly taught, you need to save all this gold salt, as far as you could recover, with the mercury and sulphur gold in Philosopher’s oven in a glass vase that you close very well.

Composition and conjunction of the physical and philosophical substances

N° 19 - Take the drinking gold No. 16. Pour it on the distillation of gold crocus, converted into spiritual liquor of gold (No. 17) and then add all the constraints that are both whole incombustible oil of Mars and Venus prepared and softened by the wine spirit (No. 7). Finally put it all gold salt (No. 18 ) and then seal it all in the Philosophical egg, which the three shares will remain empty for the movement of spirits. Close this jar tightly, and put it in the Athanor oven. Then gently give him the first level of fire that must be suave, slow, ethereal, ended and subtle. Then the fire of internal gold sulphur excited by the "external fire” will have its internal temperature increased and glow of its own blood. And during ten months convert it into a great darkness, which is the real putrefaction. Then if unite with his blood, ie, Venus and Mars incombustible oil that it is homogeneous, and with his flesh that is as his own body white, everything will convert into one very nature subtle volatile (means after dark past). Grind the powder on the subtly marble. Put it in a pelican or Philosophical egg. Pour your incombustible oil over, close the vase hermetically and highlight cohesion to athanor. Observe the same rules and degree of fire, as you have made above. And the powder smelt easily in a liquor, will be black, white and red in a short time. Stronger than what you have done the first time in ten months, you will finish the second time in two months, especially since the very fixed stone is full of fire. Again may fix its dyeing liquid, ie, Venus and Mars oil came in short, so it joins our stone, because it penetrates promptly by its activity igneous and great power.
You proceed further in the same way that you have made the second time in dissolving the stone with incombustible oil, and freezing oil with the stone. Fermentation and Specification of the Stone
