Short info on Basilius Valentinus:

Records of the life of Basilius Valentinus, the Benedictine monk who for his achievements in the chemical sphere has been given the title of Father of Modern Chemistry, are a mass of conflicting evidence.

Whatever his identity, Basil Valentine was undoubtedly a great chemist, and the originator of many chemical preparations of the first importance. Amongst these are the preparation of spirit of salt, or hydrochloric acid from marine salt and oil of vitriol (sulphuric acid) the extraction of copper from its pyrites (sulphur) by transforming it firstly into copper sulphate, and then plunging a bar of iron in the watery dissolution of this product: the method of producing sulpho-ether by the distillation of a mixture of spirit of wine and oil of vitriol: the method of obtaining brandy by the distillation of wine and beer, rectifying the distillation on carbonate of potassium.

His most famous work is his Currus Triumphalis Antimonii - The Triumphal Chariot of Antimony. His other works are The Twelve Keys - The Medicine of Metals - Of Things Natural and Supernatural - Of the First Tincture, Root and Spirit of Metals - and his Last Will and Testament. - source

My interpretation of this Azoth symbol is that the left side of this symbol is the left side of the energy body of the ALchemist and the right side is the male side of the energy body .

The left side depicts a feather of air and a sea of water which are female elements. Mary is the Queen of Angels and Heaven .Her crown is the crown of Isis. Mary is considered a reincarnation of Isis . This Queen holds a harp as a symbol of sound or a bow as a symbol of air . Air is sound . She sits upon a great fish the size of a whale . The fish is a symbol of Christ Consciousness. Inri upon a crucifix is an acronynm for Jesus Nazareth King of the Jews . The I is a representation of the Greek letters for the Jesus Christ Yahweh's son and saviour ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichthys

Ama is mother Goddess the left black pillar of the Tree of Life .She wears orange the colour of fire the opposite of water .She controls with the reins in her hands the water which is emotion and shen and the air by the scythian bow pf Cupid which is its symbol too . A whale is too heavy to attain the heavens but air dries up water and lifts us in projection to the Higher Planes just as the bird sitting upon the top of the triangle at the moon which is the Goddess above all women.

The right side depicts fire and earth the male elements . Shown is a torch of fire which lights the way . Fire energy taken into the brow centre improves clairvoyance . The king is a symbol of Christ the King who sits upon a rock . Peter is the Rock of the Church and the foundation . He holds a staff a rod which is a symbol of sovereignty and control of fire and earth. He holds a shield which looks like a fish a symbol of Christ , fire and light protects us as does Christ . He wears royal Purple which is the colour of water the opposite of Earth . Beside him peering out from the cave is a lion . Plato's cave is the meditative trance the golden bowl of the mind .The lion is a symbol of Christ the King . The king is a symbol of the male elements and Abba the white right pillar of the Godhead . The lion is too heavy to fly the dragon breathes fire to rise giving it the perch on the sun above the king . God is above all men .

The Alchemical Marriage of this sun and moon produces the divine child . This is the hermaphrodite from the union of the Queen and the King . Their infant is the gold . By uniting Heaven to Earth , this divine child or this gold is produced . By taking the spirit as golden light to the Heavens to Kether and to the Mahatma of the Higher Planes , the magician is united to God and expands the consciousness . The impurities are removed albeit for a time and the Kaballahist Hermetic Alchemist Magician soars . This is done by dumping water and earth and heating with fire energy the air energy of the energy body to project it upwards .


The Alchemist Magician stands with a foot in each striving to become the gold light of the soul as the Divine MAn who unites Heaven to Earth in self .

The elements are shown by colour around the wheel . Earth is red and the heaviest at the bottom left then fire and air is the green zenith being the lightest.

Turquoise water and air mixed is lower and blue water is heavier still . Purple is the colour of the hermaphrodite
magician red earth plus blue water and represents the end of that work and the end of the wheel but also the beginning .It is the alpha and omega as the magician and the fool of the Tarot . And as Azoth which is formed from the first and last letters of the alphabet.

The latin phrase around the wheel is translated roughly as Visit the interior of earth to find and come to the occult
stone . This is the Philosopher's Stone .

The vertices of the triangle are the body , soul( will) and spirit ; corpus, anima , spirit . And the sun , moon and
earth the three primary energy storage centres in the chest , head and abdomen . The sun is chi the vital essence in the sunstone or chest . The moon is Shen the intuitive and psychic energy of the brow centre . The Earth is Ching the power and regenerative essence of the body .

The dragon above is fire that has risen from the cave below as heat does rise and as fire raises the vibration of the magician to illuminate them and to ease projection .But the whale cannot rise in the same way it is too heavy but may be ridden to the lower planes .

The wings of the birds show us air is what we need to rise the highest note that this dragon of fire has no such wings . The magician learns by dumping water and earth energies and raising fire energy the resulting air will be heated and the mystic projection is facilitated .

The 7 points indicate the symbols of the 7 celestial orbs visible to the naked eye and the 'planets' of Alchemy
as well as the metals associated with them . which represent the operations of the works . The birds are a common alchemical symbol and here illustrate the stages of the Great Work as well ;Calcination, Dissolution, Separation, Conjunction, Fermentation, Distillation, and Coagulation.

Between the dragon of fire and the bird of air which gather the magician in mystic projection to the heavens is the top of the caduceus symbolising the staff of Hermes , magical transmutation of the Human Energy Body through Kundalini .
