My friend knows a welder and has been talking to him about alchemy and stuff.
Anyway, this guy made us a real powerful burner. It's so sweet.
Far surpasses the turkey burner.

So I have a question.
I was now able to melt the oxides in a couple of minutes, but they didn't stay molten.
Why is that? Too high a temp? I expected them to just stay liquid but they went
back to calx after a couple minutes.
Any suggestions?

Look at this one. This is thick stainless steel and we got it near glowing white on the bottom.
And it can go higher. Evil
The above pick is copper and iron ixides with potassium carbonate, so these melt at 1300-1500??

That's a pretty wicked new burner you have there. I really like the last picture. Cool

That's a good question. I don't really know the answer. My guess is the same as your guess (temp was too high). I would also expect them to stay liquid. Can you leave the reformed calx on there a few more minutes? Maybe it'll go through another phase change, and change back to the liquid state.

Another line of thought: maybe you burnt off the oxygen, and you're only left with metal. I wish I knew more about this, but unfortunately I lack knowledge in this particular field of study.
