Tattoos
Hey all,
I am just wondering because, I love tattoos, I have some and was wondering, does anyone have any alchemy tattoos?

Re: Tattoos
I don't have any tattoos, and I don't think I'll ever get any. One reason has always been that I can't really decide what the tattoo should be... the fact that I never considered an alchemical symbol is just baffling!
Thanks for pointing this possibility out!

Alchemy Tats
Yeah, I was just looking and the ouroboros and tohught "Hmm....subtle, yet significant."
To be honest, My mother was Native American, she came from a reservation and was a devout shamanic practitioner, when I turned 14 I had to get a tattoo to "prove my manhood" but I got to choose. this was seven years ago and you know what I chose? Two snakes wrapped around a dagger, similar to the sacred staff.
interesting huh?

Although I don't know what images you could choose from... yet again Hermes appears from coincidence!

Re: Tattoos
I had over 14 books of random illustrations to choose from, and the option to bring in my own design, I kind of just pointed and chose, randomly.

Re: Tattoos
Take a picture of it and post it here if you can...
It would be cool to see a Native American image of the Caduceus!

NA symbols and Alchemy
I will as soon as I can, but my image isn't Native American in origin, however, I agree, it would be could. Has anyone ever studied alchemy in Native AMerican culture? I know it exists in almost every other culture in the world. Maybe even the Aztecs....

Re: Tattoos
I'm actually unbelievably well acquainted with native american ceremonies from several tribes, due to the unusual circumstances of my life.
As far as I know there are very few traditions in native american occultism that resemble alchemy. Most work in the systems focuses on asceticism and trance work, and internal changes. herbs are used as medicine and in ceremony, and ceremony itself is used as medicine. These secrets are, like alchemical ones, guarded rabidly.
Sweet Grass, Cedar and Sage are used for specific reflective and absorption qualities, as is silver and gold - gold, ironically, is believed to be extremely bad luck amongst the Navajo primarily - they say it attracts everything, including misfortune. They, possibly as one of many slave races to the Aztecs, could have born witness to the stories coming out of the Aztec empire surrounding their great love of gold and the misfortune that befell them.
Aztecs had the ability to electroplate gold and make batteries, so I would wager it is in that more intellectually focused culture you would find more on alchemy.
On the subject of tattoos, I should like to have a symbol of Ningishzidda tattooed on me but this would require the right kind of symbol and the symbol for NG is extremely complicated and I find it incredibly difficult to focus on it for extended periods, which is weird!

Re: Tattoos
I myself am pondering something of a bind rune replete with the Ouroboros in the center, but this requires much effort and planning. I've the unfortunate Scottish curse of too many moles on my back. Such a lovely image >
Re: Tattoo's
Celtic Back, ha-ha, join the club, tis a braw nicht the nicht yeh ken, aye?
I got a few tattoo's, two dragons, one eagle (clutching neptunes fork) and the grim reaper standing in the gates of hell.
I got the reaper done across my back so I know what you mean about moles on your back as I am of celtic decent myself and suffer from the same problem, anyone fancy a game of dot the dot?
