Cymatics
I don't know if people here are familiar with cymatics or not, but thought with some of the recent discussions, it might be of interest.

Similar to that grade school science experiment of taking chalk dust and coating the inside of a clear tube and making a sound through the tube. The dust will show small marks where the sound wave had made physical impressions on the dust.
For a couple dollars and a quick visit to the store, one can easily build a piezoelectric sounder. (not sure if thats what is actually called)
Hans Jenny, a Swiss doctor, in 1967 published a book called Cymatics - The Structure and Dynamics of Waves and Vibrations. Though this subject goes back to experiments of Ernst Chladni in 1787 previously to Robert Hooke in 1680. In the book he showed the results when one uses different substances, and place them on vibrating metal plates and membranes. The device that he had built, called the Tonoscope, was built to make the human voice visible without any other electronic device in the signal chain.
A quick search for cymatics on google images will show a lot of interesting images that people have captured. My avatar will be one of those.
Cymatics has also been theorized as being the cause of the creation of some crop circle patterns. Freddy Silva in his book Secrets In The Fields has given some interesting points for this idea. Extracts of the book can be found on his site.
I have also wondered if the shape of a snowflake is not the result of the sound of the Earth's upper atmosphere at the moment the water droplet froze from its liquid form to its solid.

Cymatics is the study of wave phenomena. It is typically associated with the physical patterns produced through the interaction of sound waves in a medium.

A simple experiment demonstrating the visualisation of cymatics can be done by sprinkling sand on a metal plate and vibrating the plate, for example by drawing a violin bow along the edge, the sand will then form itself into standing wave patterns such as simple concentric circles. The higher the frequency, the more complex the shapes produced, with certain shapes having similarities to traditional mandala designs.

Re: Cymatics
Great post, cymatics reminds me of the Laputians from Gulliver's Travels- a very unique society obsessed with music and mathematics (and not much else)... they were also able to hear the "music of the spheres" (which modern science seems to be rediscovering these days)

Re: Cymatics
Hi,
I have seen on You Tubes a video of a little mercury ball being shaped by frequencies, very interesting.
And the most important to understand is : the ball have no shape when there is silence. When there is sound, the ball is a line, triangle, square, etc.

Re: Cymatics
Cymatics has always for me, helped explain the creation of all things in our Universe, the creation of a Divine consciousness all from a Primordial Vibration.
