Light at the End of the Tunnel

This is an interesting article about how the Army and NASA are using high intensity LEDs to help promote healing. They even blinded lab mice with methanol, and then reversed the blindness to 95% using LED therapy. I also have a link to some other information of the same subject matter that details how to make such a device for about $25. Will update later as I can not find the link at the moment.

UPDATE: No less than a minute after the original post I found the info.

Wow, now that is some odd stuff. I will have to research this in depth, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

One possibility comes from Dr. Harry Whelan, a colleague of Jett's and a neurology professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin. In a 2002 study backed by the National Institutes of Health and the Persistence in Combat program from the Pentagon's research arm, Whelan used LEDs to restore the vision of blinded rats. Toxic doses of methanol damaged the rats' retinas. But after exposure to the flashes of infrared light, up to 95 percent of the injuries were repaired.

EDIT: I wanted to add this. I guess the next thing to do is to convert a tanning bed to a LED healing bed. Wouldn't that be interesting? Just remove the UV tubes, and add a few thousand red LED lights.

Has anybody seen those devices which have a pair of glasses though they are opaque and contain several LEDs. The glasses are connected to a small unit that has a variety of patterns programmed into it. The user sits with their eyes closed and let the lights flash and blink.

I had used a pair once before, but did not have time to explore it very much. Still tho it was an interesting device.

I think some people use these to induce OBEs while they're sleeping or near sleep. I've also heard of the blinking lights being able to produce a state of hypnosis.

Yeah, they did have a hypnotic and trance like effect. But after a while of wearing them, I began to feel a little sick. Kind of like a motion sickness. Still though I would imagine one would get used to that and be able to handle a longer session.
